.Mac
Another question for the Mac folks: Do you subscribe to the .Mac service? If yes, what do you like/dislike about it? Do you think it's worth the money?

it's not worth it to YOU. you obviously are a pro user who can program and find your own solutions to your own problems without any outside help.
.mac is cool for people who are too busy/lazy/ or have no interest in internet technology — and want an easy way to share files and publish on the web with very little knowledge.

You sure? The whole thing about having access to bookmarks, mail, and iCal sounds pretty sweet though, pro or not.

No doubt its handy to have around. I wouldn't mind having a subscription, but hell no for that price.
They should hack packages or something. All I need is sync capabilities, and not web space.
I've managed to replicate one of the features already, which is the iDisk/WebDav capability. Not bad, but meh.

I have a PDA, my own site, my own email, a backup firewire harddrive and a ipod for hauling large files around — from hanging out at your blog I imageine you have similar tech.
it would not be worth the money for people like us. You're a better programmer than I am... As jasmeet is indicating, you may be able to install your own stuff. or switch to a web host who supplies you with internet based email and etc.

True. I just purchased a firewire HD that came with Retrospect, so the backup thing is definitely moot. The Internet mail is nothing really; I can easily set that up with the webhost.
I guess I was admiring Brandon's ability to sync up with his iDisk and transfer files so effortlessly (Rather than opening up sftp, logging in, browsing to the right directory to get the files, etc.). Maybe there's a better free solution for that sorta thing...
