Same ol, same ol
The reason I haven't been blogging much as of late is because I haven't had much to blog about. I haven't left this apartment since the weekend. I should probably blog more about my experience in Japantown this past Saturday, and I probably will.
I should also probably spill a little regarding my job situation. Basically, I've only seriously applied for one job, and I've already had a phone interview with the hiring manager. I'm now waiting on the results of an editing test to see if I qualify for a follow-up interview. It's a little harrowing just sitting around waiting for an email. I did just email the person back to see if she had a chance to take a look at the test yet, so I guess I'll know soon enough if I have more waiting to do. Brandon suggested to wait around a month or so before I start applying for any ol office job. With my credentials, I'm fairly certain I'll get a typical receptionist sort of job, but that's not really my first choice, ya know. The idea is to wait for a proper editorial sort of job to present itself before I start scattering my resume everywhere.
So, what with the lack of income, I've restrained myself from going out shopping. And since that's usually my only reason to go out, I just decided to stay home more. All I do these days is watch TV and come up with recipes for dinner. I downgraded my cable service, and I'll probably downgrade my phone service too. The only things I have shopped for are groceries and cooking tools. The good thing is I already have about 6 months rent in the bank, so I have 6 months before I start to seriously panic (Well, I'll probably start panicking by the 4th month).
Speaking of watching TV, I notice that I'm watching HGTV and Discovery Home a lot more. I guess I'm really liking the idea of making your own furniture and creating your own space. Some of my favorite shows are Home To Go, Design on a Dime, Weekend Warriors, and Designer Guys (The latter mostly because I like the hosts' personalities). It's probably a scary thing that I'm already dreaming of a "dream home" type place when I don't even have a job yet. I've also discovered a few more cooking shows like Kylie Kwong and The Best on Discovery Home.
Anyway, I'm actually leaving the house tomorrow for a change. Jasmeet and I are going to the Movable Type 3.1 Sneak Peek Mixer at a gallery in downtown SF. Who knows, I might be able to network around and meet a potential employer. Anything's possible, right?
Alrighty, I should probably go and do some grocery shopping or something now. Til next time.
